Sketchy Blenny is not a scientist. Artists often take great liberties when it comes to their work. In this case though, a lot of research and gathering of information takes place before a new project starts. 

• Common names aren’t accurate and often one species has several names in English alone. On our posters, normally the most widely used are chosen.
• A lot of palm trees and animals obviously had local names long before scientists named them again. Often local names are used only very locally and can vary greatly within a country. Then there’s the challenge of pronunciation and correct writing which we felt is almost impossible to get right. As the posters are also made for a worldwide market, the common, English names, are used.
• Scientific names are more accurate because most plants and animals tend to have one name only (albeit long ones in cases). Sometimes though, classifications change as more or new information comes to light. We try to find the latest (and agreed upon) ones while the artwork emerges. There will be a date somewhere on the poster that shows when the information was gathered.
• The animals on bags are drawn from reference photos, therefore colours and patterns can vary depending on the exposure of the photo and the individual animals.

If you need to cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible and we try to change or cancel your order. Please note, that once the order is made, the printing company will start their process as well and we are dependent on their schedule.

In order to keep the shop easy to use, the currency is automatically set, depending on the location of your device. If you are using a VPN (virtual private network) your true location might be disguised and a different currency to your country of residence might show up. You can actively change the currency at the bottom of the page in the footer.

Currencies are calculated automatically, using the exchange rates at the time of purchase. Prices are rounded for easier reading. Therefore prices can vary a few cents from one currency to another.

• The frames need to be ordered with the poster. We do not sell empty frames.
• The frame arrives at your house ready to be used, including the hangers for both portrait and landscape orientations. The poster is already in the frame.
• The wooden frames are produced from natural pine wood.

One big step towards reducing environmental impact is print on demand. Whenever you place an order, it will be processed and printed only for you! Therefore, we don’t own any warehouses or storage facilities, and we don’t keep stock that might never get ordered.

Posters

Our print partners are sourcing print materials. They follow strict plans to be net-zero by 2030. 

Furthermore:

• Over 100 production facilities in 33 countries means that currently around 90% of the orders are printed locally (same country as the customer).
  In larger countries, there will be several print partners to reduce transport distances even further.
• By 2025 all products will be from sustainable wood. Meaning either FCS-certified or recycled.

Bags

• 100% certified organic cotton
• Blank product sourced from Vietnam
• Certified by OCS (Organic Content Standard) and GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
• OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and PETA-Approved Vegan

The organic cotton products are farmed using organic compost that uses biological pest control. No synthetic substances or genetic modifications were used during the production of the blank product.

Sketchy Blenny does not charge any additional taxes or fees.

In most cases, the production happens in the country you've ordered from. As no border crossing happens, no taxes will be due.

If, for some reason, your order can't be printed in the same country, then taxes might apply. They might be asked from you before, or after you have received your order.  This fully depends on the countries involved and their tax agreements or lack thereof. Unfortunately it is completely out of our control.
